Training from May to October, the students and mentors of Team M3~the Chicago Student MentorRun prepare for the 26.2 miles of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and, through mentorship, build skills for success beyond the finish line.  

Team M3: Chicago Student MentorRun helps youth by

    • Building self-esteem - students learn invaluable skills of perseverance, discipline, focus and success through determination and hard work.  
    • Providing mentorship – students train with an adult mentor who supports them in their race goals and further, their personal and professional development.
    • Improved health and wellness - including such benefits as stress reduction, improved cardiovascular health, reducing obesity and high blood pressure.
    • Leadership development students are engaged as leaders on the team and in their communities.  Student runners have better school attendance and grades than their peers.
    • Providing a free, safe summer alternative for underserved Chicago teens.
